    For help on this EK1

A good member just suggested me to post it here for advice.

Could you help check if this EK1 is genuine? The frame looks silver plated instead of silver.
And more history of it, the value of it, etc

    Is it a 57 pattern?

    Thanks

IMO a post war production with typical hinge and pin system by Steinhauer & Lück.

      Hello

I'd agree, and say that this is a post war made piece, (post WW2 that is not WW1). Nothing wrong with it, as production of the WW1 EKs was always permitted, and started in 1914 and continued throughout the 1920s, 30s, 40s, 50s and the 60s - and probably beyond that as well.

      Regards
      David

Here are some exemplars from my collection:

But it's possible that the EK I ( by ckkyt003) is a fake, because I find out that the fakers used the "57" design (1914 and 1939 EK's) for the old fakes.

So what's the connection to S&L?

The hinge/pin system and the closed "4" on 1914.

I don't think anyone is arguing that it's post war. I'm just curious why unmarked reverse hardware is attributed to S&L only.

OK, it's an universell hinge and pin system for '57 crosses.
At the moment I know only two maker's which produced 1914 EK's after 1945, that's are S&L and Deumer. Both maker's produced 1914 EK's during the war, too.
Souval used for his post war EK's the same type of pin like in the war production. Souval never produced 1914 EK's.

That's a pretty strong statement in this hobby.

If you show me a 1914 EK with distinctive Souvalframe, then I will cancel my statement

That's what they were saying about period photos of the Retired Flyer's badge a few years ago as well
