    RKT Friedrich-August Von Michael's Medals

    For some reason my original thread on Von Michael's collection went astray, figured it couldn't hurt to put it back here.

    Keen eyes on this forum would have seen this on estand recently. I'm going to pull it as I've finally regained my senses and decided no KM cap is worth a grouping like this.

    Originally purchased from Detlev Niemann, it ended up in Harry's hands and is now in mine

    Von Michael was Hauptmann & 2nd Company leader, 172 Infanterie Regiment - his regiment was caught in the Demjansk pocket although I have no proof he fought there, the kind of medals he received makes me believe that he did get close-in and fought a dirty war up close and personal.

    * S&L EARLY PATTERN Knight’s cross of the Iron Cross in case with repro ribbon

    * Knight order of St John (German) in case with ribbon

    * DKIG with early clasp in case

    * EK1

    * Mounted Medal bar with ek2, ostfront and flood medal

    * Gold wound badge

    * British empire order of victoria numbered in case of issue (for services to England!!)

    * Chileian medal order of merit in case of issue

    * Ribbon bar with more medals! – All above + Tank destruction badge + silver CCC and French agriculture award.

    * Uniform Tunic as Lt colonel of the Bundeswehr

    * 1 Signed photo in pre May 1945 uniform and decorations

    * Wachtbattalion Cuff band.

    As stated earlier, wartime record still needs to be pieced together but his postwar record goes something like this:

        Hello

        Glad to see you have come to your senses and decided to keep it. It's a really super collection, with some good early 57 items in there. The EKs look, from what I can tell from the fronts and frames, early as well. Any chance of rear photo of the EK1 and Gold WB?

        Anyway, a really great grouping.

        Regards
        David

          You made the right decision, it's super grouping - it would be a shame to see it going.

              Hello

              Thanks for those From what I can see the Gold WB and EK1 are both earlier versions. Not the earliest, as in using wartime pins, hinges etc, but still early, probably made within the first 10 years. Very nice items, as indeed is the whole grouping.

              Oh, I still think it's awful that you don't buy your bird proper seed, but instead force feed it on etuis

              Regards

                    Well, after all my to-ing and fro-ing I have decided to let the collection go, money talks and unfortunately I'm in need of some!

                    But only to a good home and only as a group.
