    Oal Leaves and Swords

There are only marked 800 on the reverse sword hilt. Are these a Steinhauer and Lueck product?

Sorry for the poor photography. What appears to be black, on the central leaf vein, is very highly burnished and reflecting the black, from my camera body.

    Thank you,
    Bob Hritz

      Bob,
These ARE S&L oaks and swords. I have got them both marked for silver content and unmarked, but always with the "O" mark. The unmarked ones seems to be plate over brass on mine. These are early, to co-incide, I believe, with the first '57 reissue. I understand that they were made on the original wartime dies. Certainly, they are well-finished and desirable to own. Gordon's book hints that they may be wartime.
      Best,
      Leroy

Bob, it also looks like the oaks are also marked below the ribbon loop on the center? Looks like a good S&L set to me and I'd love to own them if you part with them.

          That is a nice 1950's - 1960's St&L set.
