I hope it was cheap as some collectors think these are copies.

          Hello

I didn't know that. I've seen these for sale in various places, including dealers such as Detlev Niemann, and they are always described as late production 57 DKiGs. I was of the opinion that this style of DK, e.g. with the black highlighted date numerals, are about the very last production pieces before the likes of S&L etc stopped making the 57 items. I'm sure that one the same as Francos has been shown before on the forum and the person who posted it was told it was a very late production piece.

Anyway, for what it's worth, I agree with Franco that this is a late production DK. The case looks like the correct vaccum blown plastic and foam unit. Looks like a nice piece, especially for a late one.

          Regards
          David

I may have engaged the keyboard before the brain on the last post. I was thinking this was one of those DK's you see on eBay with the painted red ring that have been called copies.

I think this is a St&L of a more modern production.

                Hello

I know what you mean. I do that sort of thing regularly.

You will also find a painted red ring on some of the later production pieces of these form S&L etc as well. Although there is no specific time frame it seems generally accepted, from what I know anyway, that the painted red ring came in somewhere around the mid 1970's - maybe slightly earlier or slightly later, but around that period. So a painted red ring is, unfortunately, no indicator of a modern reproduction / fake.

                Regards

                  Hi,
I know the crosses that George is refering to on e-bay.If you look at them closely you will see things like the wreath being off centre and the iron cross is either too big or too small. You would probably find a lot more nasties if you took one apart.
                  Cheers
