Very interesting thread. Those 4 wearing the KC in Pic #4 posted by Peter still look like they would be formidable foes.
                      Excellent thread, thanks for starting.

                          Nice pictures! Thanks for sharing!
After I saw the Choltitz's funeral picture I think it would be great to have a "57 Awards Funeral Pillows" topic in this forum, don't you think?

                            Hugo Kraas

On photo 1 and 7 we can see Hugo Kraas (ex LAH and HJ-Div.) walking on Macher's lefthand side.

                            Gruss,
                            Markus

pd: Can anyone help me with a postwar photo of "Teddy" Wisch pls?

                              Postwar S&Ls perhaps?

I've been to funerals and ceremonies, depends on what the person actually had after the war. Funeral pillows generally contained what the deceased actually owned. Due to age, physical condition mattered for the holder of the funeral pillow. The bearer of decorations are motionless and at attention for the entire ceremony once the procession stops. Of their generation, photos are taken of those attending and of the deceased, something that unnerved me initially. It was explained to me families keep records from birth to death, including a final photo. Their position in life is reflected in those shown to have attended the funeral. I've seen family life books for SS KC holders that start with a photo of his parents, ending with the funeral photo of the KC holder in state.
