    Hello

Two very nice pieces. Judging from the photos I'd guess these are mid to later production items. Very nice either way.

    Regards

      Thanks.

By the way, you said that they are mid to later productions, that's what I concerned about, how to identify that? What's the different features between early productions and later ones?

      Cheers,

my understanding is that earlier pieces have a different rivet set up also different pin: more solid, some coke bottle shaped.

            Hello

I'm basing that on the colour of the red ring under the wreath. In your photos yours appears to be a rasberry red colour, which is a good indicator of the later production items. The early ones still used an enamelled red ring. Then a red painted ring was introduced, and this remained through to the later production pieces, by which time it had become this rasberry red colour.

This in no way detracts from the items, which are proper 57 DKs, and very nice ones.

Here are my two, the DKiS having the enamelled ring and the DKiG having a painted ring. As you can see, there isn't a great deal of difference between mine and yours.

            Regards
            David

And finally a comparative line comprising my 57 DKiG, 57 DKiS and WW2 issue DKiG.

The DKs are very late issues. They are 4 piece not 5 and the date 1941 is in black, which indicates recent late issues.

                          Hello

I really think I should go to bed now. I must be tired as I saw the dates on these DKs in the black and ignored it.

That said, all 57 DKs, if not using the enamelled ring, will be 4 piece construction. The painted red ring is certainly found on mid production types; the really vivid raspberry coloured paint normally being encountered on the later items. But I take onboard the comment about the black date numerals.

                          Regards
                          David
