I pulled out all of my postwar made German Olympic Decorations today and thought I‘d do a quick group picture. Besides the two 1957 form decorations made by S&L, there is also the entire Souval German Olympic Decoration series shown - some of them even in their rare case. There also is another S&L made 2nd class with swastika shown in the grouping, sitting on top of the long piece of ribbon. The 2nd class mounted on the single bar is another Souval made decoration.
As for the two 1957 form decorations - they are both earlier made pieces using rivets vs. the later used glue. The swastika decorations follow the same time pattern. Earlier made pieces used rivets while mid-later production used glue.
Interestingly there is not much of a notable difference in quality between the riveted types vs. glued ones.
I think they look really nice together...
Regards,
Alex
