... also these pieces are notorious for their flaking black paint. I can’t remember ever seeing one of these in mint condition

Nice piece..
The last variant of the blank core.....everything here is derived from S&L with the exception of the blank core itself!!
Quite scarce, less of these made than the traditional Souval blank cores using their own frame design!!

Interestingly the core seems to be painted after assembly. Is this normal at Souval examples?

That’s an amazing piece. Not early, but interesting because the only Souval but about it is the core and the stamp. Question, did Souval actually construct it or did S&L put it together for Souval to finish? Paint and stamp.
