      That's a really nice one Andrew!!
      Though there is no RK or DK, the BVK's pretty much make up for that, and make for a very interesting group...one of the nicest I have seen in a while!!

        That must be traceable. Really nice. Surprised with a 50 assault PAB that there isn’t anything higher than the eki, but lots of postwar service going on. Starting to fall in love with mimis

          Thanks for your comments. There were only a few hundreds recipients of the Großes Verdienstkreuz:

          However no idea how to investigate further, the "Gedenkmedaille aus Anlass der Waldbrandkatastrophe im August 1975" was awarded over 20.000 times (even though this is the first miniature I have ever seen) so this does not help at all.

          Any idea how to find out who was the recipient?

            That will be difficult.

            I'm afraid the list on Wikipedia is just a small sample of recipients.

            The Großes Verdienstkreuz was awarded 3,504 times during the first decade of its existence alone (1951 - 1961):

              Beautiful mount. I saw this one had sold, I was watching it, too. Nice to see more minis being posted lately, but that means I have more competition!

                It might be difficult to trace the owner unfortunately!
                Many of the lists compiled for vets centre around RK and DK winners...with neither of these present, it makes things harder!!
                I read a couple of years ago, that a list for winners of the numbered PAB's was in the process of being compiled...not sure if it was ever finished, or lack of info meant it wasn't??
                If such a list does exist, that would be the starting point I think!!
