    List of 57er makers (RK)

As some of you may know, I am looking for a knights cross, so I was wondering, what are the 57er RK makers? Any help is appreciated and thank you for your time.

    Its a short list!!!!
Makers of the 57 pattern RK are S&L and Deumer.

      What markings did they use?

No maker marks were used on the RK's!!!
Only silver marks, if the frames were actually silver!!!

Well ... there is also the odd Souval 1957 style KC.

To say ... they made the swastika version, removed the swastika and added a stick-on oak design.

So, not an official manufacturer as indeed Deumer and St&L, but the Souval pieces are ( scarcely ) out there.

Are the Otto Schickles considered Deumers?

                  Deumers

I think so,or at least that’s what I’ve read and been told about Schickles. Also, I’ve seen and have some 800 marked S&L’s that aren’t actually 800 silver, but silver plate. These are later crosses I believe are from the late 80’s and early 90’s.

The 57 RK's that used the Schickle style frame are made by Deumer, extensive study has shown that......
There was no postwar production from Schickle!
The majority of the frames used on the 57 style RK's are new strikes from the old dies, though a small number of unmarked frames could be wartime leftovers.
How Deumer came to have the frames is an interesting question.....
Schickle ceased production, and their stock was sold off at auction in 1941 I think, who bought what is unknown....so it is possible that Deumer bought the frame dies then.....or.......
Is there a link between Deumer and Schickle in the wartime years???
I guess we have all seen the wartime photo's in Deumers workshops that include a worker hand finishing a pile of RK's....they don't appear to be the 3/4 ring type, that are shown in the early Deumer catalog, so what are they?????
