    This style of case is normally considered early, this one appears to be an earlier example too!!
    Interesting to see the imprint in the tray, it isn't that of a PLM?

      When I bought the case a while back it was described as a case for an RK.

      Maybe it was used for an RK and never contained a PLM.

      No matter it is of no use to me so I think I will list it on estand.

        S&L did use the PLM style cases for RK, quite rare, but they have a normal cutout RK shaped tray, as used in the standard RK cases.....
        So this one is made for a PLM, but has just had something else in there for sometime!!

          Early to mid production, looks like indeed used to hold a KC.

          But these can easily hold a Grand Cross or PLM as well.

            By measuring the impression made by the beading, it might be possible to work out what cross was in there?
            The depth from top to bottom looks small for an RK??
            Here is the S&L PLM style case with a factory fitted insert for an RK......
