    Bulgarian ribbon bars?

    Gents,

What do you think about these two single ribbon bars? They look 57er to me.

    Thanks.

    Hi Andrew,

foreign awards can never be 57er.

    They look Hungarian to me.

      Hello Uwe,

What I meant is that the style of the ribbon bars is rather similar to those bars we see for real 57ers....

The crown is not Hungarian for sure, that is why I am confused.

The addition on the ribbon forms a Prussian crown.... few photos attached.

Also I forgot to mention that the ribbons are wide, cca 40 mm, matching to the Hungarian Kingdom trifold ribbon width. As far as I know, on June 15, 1930 the Regent instituted a special class of the Medal with Crown, under a monstrously long name of the Hungarian Bronze Medal with Crown with a Miniature of the Lacking War Award on the Ribbon, some photos attached (don't mind the green ribbon, the wartime examples were awarded on red ribbon).

Any chance of the veteran put a miniature of a House Order of Hohenzollern with Swords on that ribbon??

          Hi Andrew!
I think the construction of your two ribbon bars looks typical for postwar!!!
We have also seen before, that the German retailers didn't always have the exactly correct device to put on a ribbon bar with foreign decorations, and used the closest they had!!!

            Hello Nigel,

It is interesting what you say because I noticed that on one of the minis cross on top of the crown was crooked. Firstly I thought it was a coincidence but after what you stated, it started to make sense. As you may know, the cross on top of the Hungarian Holy Crown was knocked crooked during the 17th century when the crown was damaged, possibly by the top of the iron chest housing the insignia being hastily closed without the crown having been placed in it properly. The cross has since been left in this slanted position, and is now typically depicted as such, even on the Signum Laudis.

St&L or whoever made this ribbon simply used a miniature of a House Order of Hohenzollern with Swords on that ribbon to imitate...... what? If it was a wartime Signum Laudis, swords would do the job.... If it was a Hungarian Bronze Medal with Crown with a Miniature of the Lacking War Award on the Ribbon, it could be anything really....

            Anyways interesting pieces indeed.

            Andrew
