Once again, nothing has changed here in the past 60 years.

A picture of Marvin while before being sent over to Europe. I suspect that todays "manly" paratroopers would find this picture "gay".

And I almost forgot... Here are a few scans out of Michel de Trez's book: "First Airborn Task Force".
Here some higly camoed 517 men before getting onto the C-47's bound for southern France. All of them are wearing the specialy modified helmet similar to Marvins. None have the "real" paratrooper helmet.

Before jumping out of the c-47's. All these men wear the modified helmet. Once again, what is hard amongst the 517 men in southern France is to find a picture showing normal para helmets. The modified helmets are worn by the vast majority.

We collectors are lucky that many troopers adapted to the local climat, like this one did, leaving behind their helmets and jump suits for us to find.

A great thread Jean, I can't believe I missed it the first time around. That is quite a project you had in finding Marvin and getting to host him for a brief time. I can only say keep up the great work, it is awesome!

I've browsed a lot of old threads, and I have to say this is my favorite! It is the rarest and greatest satisfaction of this hobby, when a collector item is the first piece of a puzzle, and the lucky owner can find all the other pieces to form the full picture.

Again, I'm just glad the helmet found its way to you,and not to some anonymous eBay bidding couch potato. I salute you Jean Loup!

                                Sincerely,
                                Ray
