Hello! This one should be an easy one for the community, but I need help to determine whether this is an authentic submarine hatch from the Gato-class submarine USS Hake.
I think its authentic, but...to be honest...I have never visited any of the Gato-class submarine museums in the United States. I'm wondering if anybody can confirm that this is authentic. Also, what is the estimated price of such an item? The Hake isn't that famous, but she did do a lot during the war.

Was it really from the sub? Who knows. It could have been removed at some point for a retrofit and stamped with the sub's name, to be sure. Or it could have been stamped with the sub's name for a souvenir...I wouldn't pay a premium for it without having a lot more provenance.
