    A-4 parachute question

I finally got around to running the stenciled name and s/n on this A-4 parachute rig. The name Donald R. Bull s/n 1217037 is stamped all over this. He is listed as living in Essex New York when he enlisted in 1942. He is also listed as being a black male. I know the Tuskegee pilots were an all black force, but this is a crew members parachute commonly used on bombers. I am not aware of any black bomber groups or transportation units. Can anyone shed some light on why this parachute is what it is?

477th Bomb Group stationed at Freeman Field. Check out the Freeman Field Mutiny, very interesting story about just how bad racism was during WWII.

I was not aware of the 477th BG. That is a messed up story. Thank you for shedding some light on that. Can anyone place Mr. Bull with the 477th?
