      Regarding the dog tag:

His name is on the top line

RFD 8 - means Rural Free District #8 is a code for free postal delivery, usually in the rural areas at the time

Bottom line is the city and state in which he lived

I cannot comment further on the dog tag

Could you post a clear close up of the engraving on the Purple Heart. I found some information on a George F. Wark who served as a B-17 waiste-gunner out of England, possibly a WIA Purple Heart or POW Purple Heart. It is strange that the engraving does not include his middle initial.

            Hi,
I can only make a close up with the photo of the seller because it isn't mine...
            Hope that helps...

The engraving does not look to be official WWII. It could be a private engraving, which was common or post war replacement.

That "Dog Tag" looks more like a tack-plate attached to a make-shift, wooden cross than a governmental issue "Dog Tag". Not sure where it comes from, but I have a similar one used to attach to personal property.

As for the engraving - I agree it appears post war or privately done.

An actual dogtag has different info than what appears here. This is a home address-the 8 is simply route number 8 out of that particular post office.

A dogtag usually has a service number and religious preference.

I think this is some type of made up shipping tag.

                    Thank you guys!
The dog tag is really not a dog tag.
I will look for another one with name.Any web where i can find one?
                    Thanks!
