        Fantastic! Those are just great!

I just love the bullion examples.
Any idea why the one example is a mirror image?

Accidentally offending people on the internet since 1997

          Mark,
I think that one is actually a Brit Combined Operations for the Royal Navy.

I have yet another variation on a jacket..

Interesting study of ESB patches. The one on white backing (faded blue?) looks very homemade.. Do you suppose it is from the Pacific Theater?

              Mark,

The color in the picture is a little off. It's a light blue not faded definately english made probably another Brit combined forces but could be an odd US.

Can I ask what the difference is between red and blue?

Army was blue while Navy was red.

Yes, that is exactly what it is. Those bullion examples are NICE!

The blue are US Army Engineer Amphibian Units. They were trained at two US Army bases, Camp Edwards in Mass, and Camp Carabelle from June 15th 1942 till April 20th 1944. They formed four Engineer Special Brigades and were tasked with most every aspect of shore duties in support of amphibious operations.

The Navy version was approved on June 15th 1944 and was for any enlisted man involved in amphib operations. The majority were crew men on LCI's LCVP's etc.

So a seaman who landed amphibious vehicles on d-day should wear a red one?
