    unit maked helmet liner,uss lexington

sorry I can't do pictures yet but can anybody explain these unit markings on a ww2 helmet liner I have?
    uss lexington, cv-16, co.3450, 13th batt., 3rd regt., s.r.u.
also has an illegible name, c.m?e and serial no. 807-00-17 and many places that he was at, eniwetok, marshal is.,gilberts, new caleledonia, luzon, wake, yokahama, tokyo. most of it is painted on and some with maybe a grease pencil, there is lt. bars in yellow grease pencil that doesn't look quite the same as the rest and since I believe the ser. no. is for an enlisted man maybe the lt. bars were added later by a kid. would these markings be for a gun crew? thanks. brad k.
