A little peice of history from Bastogne

Hi Guys, here a item that was kindly given to me last month by a friend from Denmark. My friend, Jurgen, was exploring the battlefield many years ago and was given this US "Para-Pack" resupply valise end by a farmer who recovered it in 1944 after a re-supply drop to the cut off 101st A/B Div.
    Cheers, Ade.

The interior is well padded with horse hair to help absorb the inpact.

Here is a shot of the stampings showing that the container was designed for munitions.

Here is a shot of the end of the container which shows the letter "M" applied in paint by one of the riggers; no doubt to aid in the troops recognition of the contents.

...lets hope it was an accurate drop and the 101st were the ones that opened it !! When you consider the bitter cold they had to endure, you would think someone would find a way to utilize it to keep "something" warm.

As it was their duty to defend our freedom, so it becomes our duty to honor their service.
