    Colonel Leslie K Ball Grouping

    Here is a grouping of the career of Colonel Leslie K Ball.

    Brief history:

    July 21, 1927....Commisioned 2nd Lieutenant, United States Army Reserve Corps

    Feb 3, 1940 to May 28, 1940 ....Infantry School, fort Benning Georgia

    August 8, 1940....As a first Lieutenant, was assigned as Platoon Commander of Rifle Company I, Second Infantry Regiment, Fifth Infantry Division

    June 2, 1943....In Iceland, Commander of the 2nd Battalion, 2nd Infantry Regiment of the 5th Infantry Division

    Commanded the Battalion upon the Invasion of France in 1944....The division was assigned to General Patton's Third Army

    November 12, 1944 to November 14, 1944....East of Metz, France, commanded the 2nd Battalion, 2nd Infantry Regiment which siezed and held the objective of the Sanry-Sek-Nied River against six successive and fierce counter attacks.

    Under his recommendation, his unit received the sole Presidential Citation awarded the 5th Infantry Division in WW2.

    February 20, 1945....wounded by artillery fire at Bitburg, Germany.

    January 1946....Promoted to Colonel, Infantry, Army Of The United States Reserve.

    June 13, 1951....Received his Law Degree from Loyola University and began practicing Law.

    August 1, 1966....Retired from the USAR
