Anyone know what these patches were for??

Hello to all and Happy Holidays! My aunt sent these to me today. My uncle had these and I have no idea what the were for. He was in the 12th air force in Italy during WWII. Any ideas would be welcome! Mike

Could you tell us how big these patches are, Mike? Roughly same as divisional shoulder patches, or smaller?

Hi Rick. The orange patch is 2 x 3 inches and the Italy patch is 2 inches round. I was wondering if the Italy patch was a Air Corps patch since he was in the 12th. Just a thought. Thanks, Mike

The diamond is for the U.S. Army Signal Corps Center and School at Fort Gordon, Georgia. The patch was established in 1959 and is still in use. Orange and white are the colors of the Signal Corps.

The "Italy" was worn by some W.W. II Italian POWs in Allied hands. There are two versions, this being the smaller one, which was worn on a cap.
