WW1 USMC MG Shooting/Marksman Medal ??

I just picked up this little grouping I have been after for years from a guy who got it directly from the son of a 6th Machine Gun Batl. vet. I wanted it of course for the patch, and in the group was this medal that I have never seen before. Its interesting with the "M" on it. It seems to be just some kind of shooting or marksman medal for the machine gun. Does anyone have any information about it?
