I would like to know if military records are available online for U.S. officers who served during WW1.

I am trying to get some information about a U.S. Navy Lieutenant who was a WW1 veteran. I would simply like to know when he entered the service, where he served during the war, and what decorations he might have received.

I have written the National Archives & Records Administration (twice!) but received no response.

Has anybody had any experience in obtaining the military records of U.S. officers from WW1?

Thank you in advance for any advice...
