As I've said in several posts, we are interested in the short term public relations aspects, not the long-term effect. And the lng-term effect will be the driving from public view all Medals of Honor not in the federal government's hands.

But, why take the long view when theshort view gets better press (and a few votes).

I've got only this little (unofficial) pin, but the ribbon is original:

Well, at least e can still own photos. This is the 27th ME. reunion in Alfred, Maine @1905. The building in the back still exists and I parked my car where they are sitting last monday at the local GOP redistricting conference.

If you look closely you can see MOHs and GAR medals. I counted 9 in all in this photo. (It's very, very big and a lot clearer).

For those of you outside the USA, a MoH is apparently coming up in the next Hermann Historicia auction. An Indian Wars award to Albert Sale, US Cavalry, with an unexciting (though telling?) citation "He killed an Indian and seized his effects."

Another MoH finds a good home where it can, outside the USA.

                Well done, US lawmakers!

                  Politic Lunatic

Pardon this post, I just could not let this thread
                  pass without a comment.

Politically I may be somewhere to the right of
                  Atilla the Hun...

Yet this whole issue with sale/possession of MOH

is disgustingly absurd in the extreme....

Congress needs to pass a law making it illegal
for there to be poverty, for there to ever be conflict
in the world, and requiring all of our citizens to be
100% law abiding, even in the dark.

Then they can pass themselves a hefty pay raise

                  Phil
