    1918 dated leather strap

strap length.JPG I got a few of these given to me and I have to wonder what they are for. At first I figured they were slings but I don't think they are. Whatever they were treated in must have been good stuff, they are 100 years old and still very strong and pliable. They are about 40" long.

I figure that one stamp is an Ordnance stamp.

How about a guess? I want to sell them so I need a slight description.

        Denny-

These straps could be for just about anything. I suspect they are for some sort of weapon since they have an Ordnance Department stamp, but what weapon and for what purpose? I suspect they are not a part of a sling, but some sort of tie-down strap.

You might try the U.S. Militaria Forum and hope that Robin B. sees it. He has a wonderful collection including all sorts of pack saddles for different weapons, accessory sets, etc. He is very knowledgeable and has ID'd some really obscure stuff before. If you are a member over there you can send him a private message, too.

        Hope this helps.
