Love ADC Stuff. Must have gotten a transfer to fill depleted ranks in combat units. I know a lot of guys stuck in Alaska would do anything to get out. I have a uniform from a guy that went as far as volunteering for Jump School to get out of Alaska. I believe they went around to all the guys stuck in Alaska to see if they wanted to volunteer to become Paratroopers as a way to get a transfer. Looks like this Lt. Col didn't see any combat though?

You could get a BSM without valor, most were awarded that way.

Just going by what is written on Wikipedia...."The Bronze Star Medal is a United States decoration awarded to members of the United States Armed Forces for either heroic achievement, heroic service, meritorious achievement, or meritorious service in a combat zone.'....Bodes

Many bronze stars, sans V for valor, were awarded for meritorious service nowhere near combat, but in a designated zone.

I’ve seen the same with many CIB and even silver stars
