Foot Locker, shipping crate or what?

Found this on the side of the road a few weeks back. Put out for bulk waste/debri pick up.
Generically I refer to it as a "Footlocker". However this box was not specifically a footlocker.
Does anyone know more precisely what it is or may be.
Any idea on era? Paint is very "crazed" and dry so the markings on top are illegible.
