Rare? WWI US Navy gas mask model Mark I

    Hello forum..

I have been having a hard time signing onto the forum the past week, and everything looks different now on my home computer?

anyways... I brought a small lot of WWI items and this was in the grouping.

It appears to be dated 1919, and I believe it to be a rare Mark I US Navy gas mask? When I first saw the canister, I thought it was German, but didnt see any straps. It has the original instructions with it as well.

Any idea as to value? I saw one via google that sold on EBay two years ago, but to pull up the auction "worthpoint" wanted me to pay for a membership.

    thanks for the help. Robert

I thought the WW2 era double hose gas masks with small round lenses were designated the USN Mk1...But to answer your question, your mask is a rare item...Bodes
