    American Pickelhaube

Here's a pic of one of my "foreign" pickelhauben- an American militia helmet dating to the 1880's. German style pickelhaube were worn in this capacity between the 1850's and about 1900, possibly as late as the early years of WW1.

    Arran,

A scarce helmet to be sure. Can we see a photo of the interior? Any markings or retailer identification inside?

      That's pretty cool!
I have seen plenty of the 'standard' ones, but never one with that eagle.

I wonder if this could be a helmet from one of the German veterans groups here in the USA? This helmet body looks identical to one I owned years ago that had a German eagle. It was a private purchase piece that had a two color cloth interior liner and the visor had a green under side if I remember correctly. Fred
