Just got this in today, so I thought I'd have "show and tell."
This insingia isn't "big money", but it's pretty neat. I bought a combat vet's uniform from the vet's family and they included some "extra" insignia. When I pulled the insignia out of the box, I first went to ditch the crappy paper on the back of the DI. Then, I flipped it over and discovered it was the original card for the DI! I was horrified that the family had torn the the paper to fit it into the small box with the rest of the insignia, but hey...
These DIs are for the 23rd Infantry Regiment, that saw a LOT of action during both WW2 and the Korean War. The DIs are Japanese Occupation-period made, and the Tokyo-based maker's stamp is clearly visible on the reverse of the card. Even all the clutches are Japanese made, and are the originals to the crests! Also, both the numbered rifles are Japanese made as well. The vet transfered from Japan to the US in 1953, so this insignia predates that.
Not only was it a cool uniform to a serious combat vet, but there was a GREAT bonus! Enjoy these, and feel free to post up any other Japanese made Occupation-period insignia!
