    US awards and their differences...

    Hi gentlemen,

i have been thinking of doing a grouping with some US awards but i have no idea how to spot the differences between a WWII, Korean, Vietnam or todays awards .

Anyone up for some tutoring regarding this to me?
    Please do post some examples.
    Regards
    Hans N

    this will get you started:

    http://www.wehrmacht-awards.net/foru...ad.php?t=89922

It discusses the various brooch, or pin back systems, and how they evolved through time. This, more than anything else will help you discover what era they are from, but beware it is far from absolute. Early medals have been refurbished with modern ribbons and attachments, and old stock was in use many years later.

And what is the exact content of a case?

Because i still see miniatures sometimes in cases? Was this original, or post-war added?

Is there a nice site where alot of Us medals including their cases are on and how they earned them?

with some exceptions, a medal in a hinged case or cardboard box came with the medal, a mounted single ribbon, a lapel device, and sometimes extra swatches of ribbon material.
