A William T. Hahn enlisted from Jefferson County, West Virginia, on 18 Feb 1942 (ASN #35276254).

Nobody by that name appears on the American Battle Monuments Commission list. However, he's out there somewhere.

              WILLIAM T HAHN 24 Jul 1911 03 Nov 1992 (25414 Charles Town, Jefferson, WV)
(If that matches the DOB at the NARA.)

Since he was from your county, should be easy to research. A good starting point would be his obituary. They will be on microfilm at a (larger/main) local library.

Also, try contacting a Jefferson County newspaper (if there is one). You'd be surprised at the number of vetran related stories published by local weekly papers.

T/Sgt Hahn was a flight engineer and part of the original cadre of the 374th Bomb Squadron, 308th Bomb Group flying B-24's out of Kunming, China. His aircraft was serial number 41-24194 named "Ubangi Bag"

The 1930 Federal Census also ahows a William T. Hahn, age 18 at the time, living in Kabletown, WV, son od Samuel and Nannie Hahn. Gotta be the same guy as mentioned above.

Interesting to see an officially engraved DFC. He's not a KIA or POW, so I suspect it was awarded to him after his return home.

                Very neat group!!!
