Cool candid photo of Doughboy Sergeant

    Friends,

This photo of Sergeant Chester "Chet" Blomsness (1899 - 1978) arrived the other day and I was very pleased to receive it.

While I am still researching the subject, he appears to have served in the U.S. Army during both world wars.

I like the tightly buckled chin strap, the cigarette, the self-assured gaze into the camera and most of all, that big-ass .45 caliber M1917 revolver. That is one evil looking shooting iron.

    All the best,
    TJ

He is also wearing one of the three pocket pouches for the half moon clips of .45 ACP.

        Gents,

Thanks very much for the comments.

Attached is another candid photo of the M1917 in action. Sadly, there is nothing written on the back and it came in big lot of random photos.

If I had to hazard a guess, I'd say it depicts a Korean War era naval landing party.

In any event, it's good to see that the trusty M1917 was still in use decades after Chet Blomsness turned his back into the arms room after the Great War.

        All the best,
        TJ

Thanks for the welcome! I collect mostly US WW2 Uniforms from all services. I've been a lot more active on other forums and signed up here about two years ago, but never really used my account. I recently started looking around this forum a lot more!
