    8240th AU - UNPFK - UNPIK Website

As many of you know I have been working on a book about the history and insignia of the 8240th AU. Work on the book is coming along but is a long way from being done.

I decided to build a 8240th AU website as a predecessor to the book. Information will be added on a periodic basis, and it is my hope that by getting it out into the collecting community, forums and former 8240th veterans, I will be able to gain more information and find items to add in the final publication.

The 8240th AU website is attached to the Blood On The Risers Militaria website. There is still a lot to add to it as well as detailed content for each item.

This link should take you straight to the 8240th section of the website. If not click on the "More" tab on the top right of the page and a 8240th Army Unit drop down will appear.

    http://www.botrmilitaria.com/#!the-8...rmy-unit/c1mj8

Please contact me via email at mkforce908@yahoo.com or by phone (989)-627-0864 if you have any 8240th related items that you would like to share for inclusion on the website and book. All information shared will be noted, unless told otherwise.

Thank you to everyone that has opened up there collections, shared information and allowed me to photograph, scan and document there 8240th AU items.

Matt, thank you for the information on the launch of the 8240th AU website! It is a great site, with information about a unit that very little has been written.

I have knowledge about this unit because my aunt was a staunch nationalist in the Korean Independence Movement prior to WWII, and was later appointed as a minister in President Sung Man Rhee’s cabinet. It was because of her, that my interest in the Korean War was launched many moons ago.

What you have shown is truly amazing and will provide information to those who do not know anything about the units’ insignia and history. Because members of this unit were sworn to secrecy like SOG in Vietnam, much has been lost over time that cannot be replaced. Time is of the essence and it is my hope that by posting what you have will bring new items out of the wood work to preserve the history of this unit.

Again, I applaud your efforts, look forward to the book being published, and wish you well in completing the mission.

TORCH03, have you looked at any Veritas issues and if so, did you find them very informative?

          Hi Michael,

I do own all of the Veritas issues concerning ARSOF in the Korean War. They are very informative and worth picking up/having in your reference library.
