Horace Gene Ellis - 50's Air Force Vet

    Hi guys,

I need some information relating to my grandfather. He served in the Air Force during the 50's.

Taken from his DD214 form, what are these abbreviations?

    AFLSA AFR 900-10 W 1 B OIC , GCM W/2 LPS SO# A98 HQ 7030 SUPGP DTD
    1958 FR 27 JAN 56 TO 26JAN61

Also, in 1955 what rank was an E-4?

    I appreicate your help.

    Hi
The AFLSA is A Air Force Longevity Service Award with a Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster for Successful completion of an aggregate total of four years of honorable active service. The GCM is a Good Conduct Medal not sure of LPS.

AFR 900-10 is the USAF regulation dealing with awards, basically showing that he qualified for the longevity award.

LPS stands for loops-- the knot on the Good Conduct Medal. That award was authorized by Speical Order A98, Headquarters, 7030th Support Group (USAF, Europe). [Possibly from 1958?]

Not sure why a 1956 - 1961 date range (enlistment?) would be covered by an order from 1958! That entry is a bit confusing.
