    MARINE Grouping - M1 Helmet & Cover

    Greetings Gentlemen,
I wanted to get some opinions from you guys.
I picked this up over the weekend with every intention of holding onto it, but I just have way to much going on and I think I need to let it go.

A salty late '44 rear seam swivel bale shell with sewn on OD3 straps and a near mint '53 dated type 2 (if I'm not mistaken) cover and USMC duffle.

There were also a number of Vietnam combat equipment pieces included so I don't know if I should sell as a Korean lot or later.

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Many Thanks

It's of my opinion that USMC covers with EGA stencils are either 1st or 2nd pattern WW2 surplus or 1953 produced and dated covers used post Korea up to early Vietnam. They are NOT WW2 issue. As much as I and other collectors want to believe they are WW2 issue, the photographic evidence (or more correctly, lack thereof) does not support WW2 era use.
