Nice pistol to begin with, even better with the history behind it.

How can you know if the mag's are non-matching? Does the gap at the bottom indicate anything?

And IF a Chi-Com T-51, model 1963, had ALL the blue removed, and polished finish, would it have any value? IF something like that were done, could it be re-blued to original value?

The mags should be serial numbered to match the gun. If you've got a TT with the finish removed I'd say it's up to you weather or not to reblue it, it will never be worth what an original unmessed with gun is worth. They are not big money guns so if it were me I'd leave it as is. JMO

I know the pistol is non matching as the number on the mag does not match the serial number of the pistol. I bought it at an auction several years ago. Originally a collector bought all of LeMay's firearms directly from him, then sold a portion of them. That's how I ended up with this one. Even tho I collect Toks, I originally bought it more as trade bait for Vietnam or KW sniper rifles; however it's ended up as a very special piece in my collection.

And no, I never refinish anything in my collection. They stay as they came back. I do have a VN papered MAC50 that was blued - I am seriously thinking of having it reparked, as it was originally. But that's it.

Can you get a few pics of the case?

It must be a nice case since it went from a Korean General to an American General ...

              ed.:
Ok, something is not right here...
The name on the business card returns no Google. But Chang SUNG - HWAN returns the ROK former COS, still alive.

I think he doesn't know how to spell his name on his business card He didn't have Google to check his name, when he printed his card.

Seriously tho', if this was my pistol, I'd get Chang (chu-CHING$$$) to sign the card (email, SOMEthing) at least, ESPECIALLY since he's still alive here... THAT would be MAJOR [GENERAL] buck$!

Looks like he (or his son) has a Facebook account..

You could have a serious pedigree piece there, 603dasc!

Any luck getting the general's autograph, or email, or anything, since he's still alive?

His son has a Facebook account, and it couldn't be much easier to get some type of acknowledgment of this hardware's history...

Hi. Sorry, I hadn't followed the thread since I had originally posted so was unaware of the General's son. I do think that I'll try to locate him.

As to the case, it is just a plain wooden case, not like the elaborate inlaid plaques and cases the S Koreans gave later.

Unfortunately I had to part with it a couple of years ago.

Thanks! I've been chasing this pistol for several years. Lt Gen Chang was my wife's uncle.
