i have been collecting many years and have always sought out and bought korean war groups.maybe because it was so unpopular, along with the other small actions we have been involved with, haiti, puerto rico, nicaraugua and the china service and others.i guess you could say i collected span am when span am wasn't cool........great groups guys

      Older Groups

When I was doing motel buys in the 1980s and 90s, I put back a few USMC Haitian groupings, some Span Am and Dominican, but never found an Indian Wars lot.

I'm only into insignia, so I will address this point only. I don't know why KW insignia - whether common or not - doesn't have the attraction that WW 2 items bring.

Look at UNPFK-UNPIK - roughly the KW equivilent of WW 2 OSS. Most collectors still ask "whaaaa" as they don't have a clue. They don't know what the mission was, how successful or unsuccessful the mission was, etc.

Some of the KW-era Japanese made SSI and pocket patches are embroidered works of art. Some of them are for the most obscure units, too.
