Which DLI Battalion?

Hello forum members.

I have recently obtained a Durham Light Infantry 1940 Pattern battle dress set which was made in 1947.

The shoulder titles on it (pictured) are Red on dark green.

I have been told that each DLI Battalion had its own colour for shoulder titles.
Does anyone know which colour were which battalion?

First we could hae a look on the post war DLI story. After WWII, the regiment reduced in size until only the 1st Bn remained. The 2nd Bn was disbanded in 1948, reraised in 1952, only to be disbanded in 1952.
As for the territorials, the 9th became a part of the Parachute Rgt in 1948 and the 6th and 8th were amalgamated before being dibanded.

Only the 1 DLI saw action after WWII, it served in Korea from september 1952 till september 1953.

After WWII, circa 1949 (according to period photos), Light Infantry regiments changed officially red background titles to Dark green ones.
I never seen pictures of the 1 DLI soldiers with fully badged BD in Korea but I have some of the King's Shrophsire Light Infantry, and they worn Dark green titles with yellow letters.

During WWII, the 16th Durham Light Infantry worn a dark green title with red letters "Durham Light Infantry" .

I think in the post war, the 1/ DLI worn "DURHAM.L.I" title on dark green with yellow letters and for territorial Bns (6 & 8th), "DURHAM.L.I" title on dark green but with red letters.
