A Few of My Dads Items

I really didn't get to know much of my stepdads Tour of Duty during the Korean War, he didn't talk much about it nor would he watch MASH or any war film that I can remember. All I knew was he was in the Air Force, held the Field Commission of a Mjr. but was a Sgt. too when he was Stateside. I remember him telling me a story while in Hawaii he was playing golf with some friends on the officers course and a Capt. they didn't know stated that no EMs were allowed to play. A Col. friend of his told the Capt. to back down cause my Dad outranked him in Korea...
Anyways after he passed on my Mom found these items and gave them to me, I've a couple of photos of him when he went in at 18 and sometime later. I will post them when I find them.

    Photos of My Dad

The first photo is marked Nov 1953 Korea on back but I've no idea where it was taken, the second one is stamped Offical Photo US Air Force. I got another one of him wearing his Majors rank in while in Korea but I've got to find it.

That flag is quite interesting, as there is a huge gramar mistake in the French motto.
Maybe you can find out more about him by searching for a unit history of that unit?

            Isn't the motto Latin ?

I though of that, but I am pretty that it is not.
Maybe a latin learner can weigh in here?

Well with some of the information I have, I'm going to start looking into the Unit History... I've got his dog tag someplace which is still attachet to his old duffle bag, so hopefully I can go with his service number thru military records in Salt Lake. I had to do that for a copy of my records.

                  It's french
ATTAQUEZ ET CONQUEREZ : ATTACK AND CONQUER
no mistake here....conquérez is from the verb Conquérir.
Here in the imperative present mood...
Strange motto for a medical unit...

Yes strange but it was part of the 8th Fighter and Bomber Unit.

                      Thanks Joe
I was wondering if this unit existed during WWI or has received some traditions from an other american unit that had fought during WWI, as some american units that have a french motto were given it during or right after WWI.
The shield might be french also, or from french inspiration at least as lily flowers are pure french here...
