Royal Navy Korean War Medals

What a great section to start. Although I have no interest in the collecting sphere of the Korean War I do like to read about the various aspects of the war.
Here is a photo (taken via phone camera I'm afraid) of my dads medals, 2 for the Korean War and one for the Malayan Emergency, awarded when he served on HMS Mounts Bay.
I will also attach 4 photos from his photo albums.

The photos illustrate two truly significant aspects of the Korean War:

The combat at sea and the weather.

Those who served on board navt vessels of any allied nation were not simply "patrolling the coasts" as so many seem to think!

And Korea was a combat theater of weather extremes: brutal, unremitting heat in summer, and a bone-chilling cold that swept down from Siberia in the winter.
A pilot who was shot down and who had to ditch his aircraft at sea had a survival time in these northern waters of mere minutes. If a rescue helicopter did not reach him almost immediately, the result was fatal.
