    Hi.
    Ive bought a katana size bone sword.I never thought I would,but I like this one.

    Never heard of such a thing! Is it ivory? or like the name - bone (of what?). Have you taken the handle off? Looks like there is a mekugi around the top third of the handle. Would love to see better pics of the blade, tip, and nakago.

      Very common tourist piece from the 1900’s
      Mostly with bone mounts rarely ivory
      But I always look at the blades when I see one as I once bought one with a very nice koto blade
      99.99% junk blades

        Here is one I bought just before Christmas for £30 from my local flea market
        The blade was real but full of kizu

            Hi,
            A bargain at £30. Is the handle top and the saya base open or covered up.A lot
            of them are open.

              Almost all of them are made from sheeps bone.No you cannot take the handle of.
              On mine the nakago is glued on,including the habaki,to remove it I would have to heat the blade up.
