    Japanese Naval Signal Flag ID

This flag came with a group of Japanese bring-back items from a WW2 Navy Vet. Is this a Japanese or American signal Flag?
    Thank you

International Code of Signals flag for the letter "O".

I cannot tell by its construction whether it is US or Japanese (or British; German; etc.). Maritime = international.
Too bad it wasn't the "Z" Flag!

      Thank you
I also could not tell Here are a few close up pictures, and pictures of several Japanese postcards that were with the flags. Can anyone translate what is written on the cards?

I came across a blog that indicated that these postcards were plain Military cards used by the Japanese army soldiers in WW2...

            Hello cerick1450:
IMO one of a pair of hand held semaphore
flags, like those used by the Boy Scouts.

Japanese naval semaphore flags were a plain white flag and a red flag. They were not multicolored.

Thank you to everyone for the help.
Well this is interesting. It turns out that this veteran was a Quatermaster in a Motor torpedo boat (PT boat) Ron-33 during WW2.
From information I received from a member and what I could find on the internet. It appears that the Navy used similar flags for "Underway Replenishment" of boats during the war...Here is a link to Wikpedia article with a photo of use...

Possibly these were his flags for use with the PT boats????

                  Sounds plausible.

I'd go with what Old Flags Wanted wrote: US semaphore flag. According to the linked article,
