Help with Named Japanese helmet and camo cover

Here is another of my finds, a really very well used Helmet and 3rd pattern camouflage cover ?

If I’m wrong please advise me.

The helmet at the front seems to have some paint, I’ve seen this before, also the star looks like it’s copper underneath. Is this normal ?

There is some markings in the helmet , does the helmet look correct ?

Also can someone please help with the kanji in the helmet cover

    Thanks

I was concerned about the use of "modern" kanji for sawa instead of the traditional version ; but a bit of research reveals than in 1938 the old kanji for some words were discontinued because soldiers had a more rudimentary kanji ability ... and the old style took too long to write!

The restricted kanji list for weapon names issued by the Imperial Japanese Army on February 29, 1938 was limited to 1235 kanji characters in weapon names. With the expansion of the Sino-Japanese War, recruits were recruiting one after another in the army, but if difficult kanji were used in the name of weapons, there was a problem that soldiers could not read and write those kanji . Therefore, the Army has decided that 959 kanji learned by the fourth grade of elementary school are first-class kanji, plus 276 second-class kanji for weapons, and a total of 1235 kanji that can be used in weapon names. Among these first-class kanji, the new character [沢] "Sawa" was included. The old character [澤] "Sawa" takes a long time to write, so the new character "Sawa" was used for the name of the weapon, and the old character "Sawa" was not used.

I have seen a few stars made of brass. Aged brass will take on the appearance of copper. As I said on the other forum....insanely nice cover that was actually there! Is the insignia on the cover painted over?

Yes the star is in fact Brass , well spotted.
And the insignia looks to be either heavily worn or blackened. I’m currently out but will post more pics

Thanks again for the kind comments

Helmet star looks like it has old gold paint on it to my eyes. Magnet won't stick if it's brass
