    Copper NCO Sword

Here's another keeper that just came in. Not as minty as the other two but still a nice one.

    Gotta love the early coppers!

Thanks Bill! This one is a high number compared to the other two. Matching #3444.

Kind of cool how they mistakenly stamped it 3344 then fixed it by stamping a 4 over the 3.

Thanks Bruce! Yup I have 3 now. The other two are better condition but this one has it’s own charm plus it has the second version scabbard with the strait plug.

Here’s the thread showing the other two.

Finally had a better day to get some good shots. I really love the scabbard showing heavy wear that reveals the baby blue/grey undercoat.

I know it's way more common but it's nice to finally own an example with the second pattern scabbard.

Very nice score. Gotta get one of these...lol. And the serial number fix....shows human error and a fix on the manufacturer floor as well. Only one I’ve seen like that. I’m sure there are others.....but probably only a few. Sets is apart. I love unique blades. Had a lands custom German dagger once that had 100% legit screws....but not the normal screws they used. Even Mr. Wittmann liked it...lol.

Nice Clean example Jim! well done!

I know they were having issues with paint on scabbards for these, also there was the carry over issue of corrosion with the type 32's. Black was a problem paint, so they looked at several options.

They also used a gold 'wash' on these as a primer for paint and now you have a real nice (nicer than mine) example of the grey/blue primer.

Of the scabbard patterns for these, there were 4 variants, mainly in the brass plug, i believe there is one more.

BTW- nice re-stamp of the serial number.....definitely legit IMO

It's funny that you mention black scabbard paint. Here's one that sold recently with a black scabbard that was clearly a repaint. It’s also missing a seppa and the tsuba is reversed so it was definitely molested. From the looks of the price it sold for, the buyer thought it was legit.
