    Kyu-Gunto advice needed

    Hello,
I don't know much about Japanese edged weapons, but I found this on a local classifieds site. These are the only picture and I'd like to know if there is anything obviously wrong with it. It's not overly expensive, and I'll be looking at it in hand before I buy it so there is not a lot of risk.
I just haven't seen many of these so I don't want to get burned.

Thank you very much in advance for any help!

    Sword

Original but extremely common and lower rank. If you get it cheap enough youll be fine. Interesting tassle if originad adds a bit

Thanks Steve. Yes, I'll only buy it if I can get a good price. The seller claims the knot is original but it looks very clean to me so I can't tell.

Common Army company officer parade sword.
Sword knot is right for this sword pattern.

            Thanks for the advice guys,
I went and looked at it and it was beautiful. A little bit of rubbing and spotting on the blade but the temper line looked really nice and the grip detail was wonderful.
The killer however was the grip was -really- loose every part of it would rattle around when I was handling it so I left it.
If there was a way to tighten the grip ( has a peened pommel) I'd very likely buy it.

Its rivet on top and can be done with a hammer. If You know how to do it, its easy.

Probably just etched on, not truly tempered.

Its a chrom plated blade with etched hamon.
All army parade swords has chrom plated blades with fake hamon. Just as the navy.

I know the hamon isn't real, still looks nice however.
Gunto, is tightening up the handle really that simple? What do you do? clamp the blade in rubber vice jaws and tap it with a hammer? I'm a handy guy so I'd know enough not to beat the crap out of it.
