          Hi!
I only have this one, the saya is a really nice quality navy same saya which is trashed. The fittings are also trashed and someplace buried but I do want to figure out what it is and restore it. It was forgotten for years and now that I found it I really want to figure it out.
          Thanks!

I had shipped the saya out for some repairs so the other parts are in storage.
                    Thanks!

                          Bob,
This sword has generated interest. FYI Bruce Pennington has been in contact with someone who has provided some background info about the company and it’s owner. You might like to pm him to stay in the loop?
                          Regards,
                          Kevin.

                            Bob,

All I can say is that it'e a Type 98 Japanese officer sword. But even that depends upon the fittings. Are they army or navy or civilian? You haven't said. If the fittings are civilian, then it's a specially made blade for the civil market. The other guys would be better at commenting about the make of the blade, whether traditionally made or not. They would need better pictures of the blade tip and 1 or 2 pics of the blade body, showing the temper line.

I'm still researching the ore company. It has not been a known sword-making operation. So, for now, you have quite a rare blade - like one of a kind! That alone can make the sword more valuable to some collectors. For others it will depend upon the blade itself. If it's got a beauty to it's shape and hamon (temper pattern).

Sorry, someone just reminded me that you mentioned the "navy same'" in post #5. So it's a Type 97 Navy Officer gunto.
