          Nick,

It’s going to be an uphill challenge to comment on mei alone (well, that and the Yasuri-mei). What sort of hada are you seeing (Hizen Konuka)? Hamon (most likely suguha)?
I’d begin with some comparisons against those shown here:
          http://www.hizento.net/index.php?page=index
Good luck but, as you know, gimeis are rife.

It’s appears to have the correct hada and a suguha Hamon
I’ll try again posting some photos

I couldn't see the full signature, only 大掾藤原忠吉; so I was reading as "e" as in 江戸 Edo !! I did not know that Ōmi is written as 近江.

For those of us who are *not* in the know, here's what Markus Sesko says:

Tadayoshi, he received the honorary title Ōmi no Daijō on the tenth day of the third month Genroku 13 (1700), after the relative early death of his father he was fully trained by his grandfather, the 2nd gen. Tadahiro (忠広) for whom he also made daisaku works, he died on the ninth day of the ninth month Enkyō four (延享, 1747) at the age of 80, his signature style is not that regular as that of the 2nd gen. Tadahiro or the 3rd gen. Tadayoshi, some blades show horimono which were engraved by Tadanaga (忠長), jō-saku
