Yesterday I was looking at a bunch of stuff that my neighbor inherited. Among the items was a large pair of Japanese Nikko 10x50 binoculars. As the story goes, they were brought back from WW2 as a war trophy. They were in a leather case, the lid of which was marked with the name of the GI that brought it home (the guy's father). Each eyepiece focuses independently. The markings are Nikko 10x50mm / Japanese characters.
I did some research on-line and I could find 7x50 and 10x70 but nothing on 10x50 binoculars made by Nikko. The focusing mechanism is like the 10x70, but those are usually in a wooden box not a leather case.
Does anyone know anything about these? I'm trying to figure out what they might be worth.
