    EDIT: Looking at an old post, I think yours is for the equivalent of major because of the double braid. Company-grade officers had a single braid. See images.

        Probably a major in the police/fire brigade. Does anyone know when the sunburst badge became solely police force? Nick Komiya shows it being used by the Police/Fire Brigade through June 1946 when the Fire Brigade badge changed.


        [Edit: Nick's article states the "Satsuma device" was gazetted on 2 July 1947.]
